Feel like taking a trip back in time to the classic mid-90s Scandinavian Black Metal era? Then you need to listen to the debut album ‘Wrath of the Wilds’ from Swedish band Wormlight. Prepare yourself to delve into a dense and terrifying journey with all nine tracks on this album. Each song having its own separate ‘feel’ and journey to experience, filled with haunting solos, ice cold facinorous riffs and dark vocals.
Throughout the entire album you can expect sinister almost demonic like screams (accompanied on occasion by tenebrous shrieks), enchanting melodic solos, an abundance of fast tremolo guitar riffs and energetic blast beats.
Track number one which shares the name of the album, jumps right into a skin crawling, old school melody, and a chill overcomes you as you are transported into the rest of the song. Slowing down the pace, track number seven entitled ‘Nightmare’ takes you into an almost dream like state from which you are fast awoken by high pitched screams. This track leads you further and further into the nightmarish imagery of this album.
Moving onto track number eight ‘Invocation’ which flows smoothly into number nine. This one will have you feeling like you are a part of an invocation ritual, wondering lost through the woods looking for the source of with beautiful chants and medieval feeling piano.
The cold, deep atmosphere that this album creates will attract both old and new fans of Scandinavian Black Metal. The total album length providing us with almost an hour to indulge in the hauntingly, beautiful music created by Wormlight.
The album will be out via Black Lion Records on digipak (CD) and digital formats on 25 April 2018.
