It’s that time of year again, with the collective anticipation and excitement surrounding Krank’d Up Fest building its way to a fever pitch.

In preparation for this monumental event, The Metalist za had a quick catch-up with indie rockers After Robot, to get a little not-so-serious introduction into the life of the band.

So this is a really common question, but I have to ask…After Robot is very an interesting name. Where did the inspiration for the name come from?

The name came from a mix of Sci-Fi Aliens and South African Taxis – Joshua Pearlson

Krank’d up is one of the biggest metal festivals in South Africa. Who are your five favorite metal bands that you would one day like to see on the lineup?

Aborted, Between the Buried and Me, Municipal Waste, Entheos and Nile – Greg Watson

You are known for you passionate live performances, what can the Krank’d up festival goers expect from your live show?

Expect a nice and friendly start that progresses to a full on crazy high energy party. The only way we know how..Krank’d Up to 11. – Clifford Bryan

You guys have been around for five years already, tell us about the biggest past and upcoming highlights for the band.

We love touring and bringing our pot of crazy to all. We have done over roughly 10 country wide tours and rocked our faces off on stages in a hotel room to busking at the Jbay surf open. There are some very exciting shows coming up for us like Krank`d up, Oppikoppi, Rocking for Rhinos and getting the opportunity to open for the mighty Alien Ant Farm from the USA. We like to see every show as a highlight as we get to do what we love – Jacques Jacobs

The music business is not always easy. What inspires you to keep doing what you do?

The people hey. Each and every single person that come out to shows, from photographers to the engineers to the folks that bring their dancing shoes to come support live music. – Jacques Jacobs

Touring around the country is something you guys do at least once a year. What’s the craziest moment you’ve experienced on tour?

Yes we love to tour our beautiful country, and with that does come some crazy moments. I would say a crazy yet super fun one would be

when we were joined on our last tour by a certain photographer. The entire tour was just magic with Schutte on the road ! – Jacques Jacobs

If you guys were the owners of a big company, name one thing you would make compulsory in the office and one thing you would ban in the office?

We would make listening to music compulsory and we would ban the cooking of cabbage – Joshua Pearlson
