The Metalist’s Sammy SF caught up with Johannesburg based OneDaySky ahead of their upcoming tour with the mighty I SEE STARS. See what they said below and get your tickets before it is too late!

Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions 🙂

I could not think of a more appropriate band to open for the mighty I See Stars, as you guys have always blended electronic elements into your sound.

What are you most looking forward to about the tour and is there anything you would want to say to the band as they have been such huge influences for you?

We’re just looking forward to see them live. And to be on the same line-up as well, it’s such an honour and privilege, so massive thanks to Mike Pocock at Brochella and Rob at RAM. We’re keen to meet them and just hang, have a few words, maybe share a beverage get a photo with the guys too.

You guys have been fortunate to play with a lot of internationals lately, have you received any feedback or advise from these acts along the way?

Oh hell yeah, we connected with a lot of the bands on a technical level in terms of their gear – we’re heavily into the gear we use on and off stage. They’ve also just inspired us which had no pressure on us for forcing conversation. They’re all normal dudes like us.

How are things going in studio for you guys at the moment? When can we expect a taste of things to come?

You can hear everything we’re recording at the show But we’ve changed things up a little bit in the studio. They’re coming soon, we promise. We always say it but we do have new things in the pipeline.

Have you guys got anything special planned for the upcoming tours?

We change things up every tour. So You’ll just have to come the show to see for yourself. *wink wink*

If you were to pick only one song that you want I See Stars to play, what would it be?

Darren – Calm Snow

JP – Over It

Eric – When I Say Jump, You Say How High

Clint – Boris the Animal

Matt – Two Hearted

It’s that time of year for Halloween shows, do you guys dress up? If so what has been the best costume you have seen or dressed up as yourself?

We do like dressing up for costume parties. We have unfortunately never played a Halloween show, so we’ve never had the opportunity to dress up for a show. We defos would have dressed up if we were on the Halloween bill but there’s always next year We have dressed up in dresses before in a cross dressing party. That was fun.

What is your honest opinion about Post Malone?

JP loves Post Malone so we’ll let him take this one…

JP: Post Malone is frikken rad. None of this mumble rap nonsense and he is by far the most diverse of the face tattoo hip hop artist generation. There is a reason why most of his album were in the top charts for weeks. To conclude – dig him!

If you guys could cover any song on the charts right now, what would it be and why?

Clint – Saosin: Seven Years – One of my favourite bands and all time influencers as a musician. It’s an old track but I’ve always wanted to cover it.

Eric – Bruno Mars: That’s What I Like – DGD did a rad cover but it’s a frikken awesome song, also Bruno Mars is GROOVE.

JP – Post Malone: Better Now – Our Last Night did a rad cover of this with other sick musicians but I reckon a post-hardcore mix with electronic mix would make a rad cover.

Darren – Childish Gambino: This Is America – What a killer song. Such variety, it could probably sound rad in a different genre.

Matt – Tilian: Cocky – It’s not in the charts but the DGD singer’s solo project is rad. I think it would be a cool cover.

Last, but certainly not least, why should people buy tickets for the I See Stars Tour?

Okay, so we live in South Africa, we know how it goes – bring a band down, they usually say we’ll be back but very rarely do they come back unless Turning Tricks, Jam Packed, Seed, Plug Music Agency or AMP Events can get them back.  So get them tickets… You have the opportunity to see them twice; JHB and PTA!
